My interest in games and learning burst into its current level of passion when I tried using The Walking Dead by Telltale Games in my ethics class, a project that achieved some international attention. Since then, I have branched out my efforts, using games like Skyrim, Journey, Civilization IV and The Last of Us in several other subjects.
Achievements
In may 2015 I won NDPED’s Golden Apple award – awared to teachers who use ICT in education in an exemplary way – along with my colleague Aleksander Husøy. The Norwegian center for ICT in Education awarded our school with a national Innovation Prize the same year.
Lately, I have taken a more and more academic approach to my proffession, and I got a piece on my educational use of The Walking Dead in the latest issue of the journal Well Played. More papers are due in the months to come!
My vision
I believe that video games are the most exciting and promising educational technology in our current age, and that every teacher and student should have the chance to experience the fun and engagement that games can bring to our classrooms.
Keynote Learning with Games
I’m excited to visit the Netherlands for my keynote at MartiniPlaza, Groningen on April 6, 2016. I will meet you there!
